L. B. A. (Letters Before Action) (Claim Letter)
Solicitors Letters Before Action (LBA's) are
the preferred formal requirement before starting court proceedings and are
often used as a means of warning a Debtor that proceedings involving additional
cost and expenditure will be incurred unless payment is made. By using a
solicitor's letter the effect is more formal and effective than using debt
collection agencies.
Level 1 L.B.A On Smith
Partnership headed paper requesting that the Debtor to pay you direct.

Level 2 L.B.A On The Smith Partnership headed
paper plus we telephone the Debtor to demand payment and any follow up queries
raised. Charges available on application.
Level 3 L.B.A -v- Limited
Companies Threat to liquidate. This letter can be used -v- Limited
Company and Plc. debtors only where the debt is for £750 or more. A
letter is sent by fax and post stating that a Winding Up Petition will be
presented to the Court for issue after 48 hours unless payment is made. A
follow up call is made the same day to the Debtor. Charges available on
